About me

Mission

I never knew MCM could save my life.

Sounds dramatic? Maybe, but as an artist who battled with lifelong anxiety & depression, living in dark Victorian era apartments in New York City seemed to exacerbate my condition. I've only recently understood my motivation to create vibrant eye pleasing art by relocating into a sun drenched “Mid Century Home” in the West where I realized the difference cheery bright colors, open layout, glass walls and palm trees dramatically had on my moods and creativity.

They say art is healing medicine for the soul and that misery births creativity. Being sensitive to my environments, feeling so dismal about my surroundings I reacted to these negative sensations by creating intense visceral aesthetics to the same degree of my gloom as a type of mental floss. I'm living proof of the power well designed architecture has on mental wellness.

It’s because of my life long fascination with architecture, history, and mental health that I started Haus by Santi to share with others the positive healing affects that quality craftsmanship and aesthetics have on our lives in form of these wonderful modern homes.

Ride to Live

Mini Bio

Born to parents from Puerto Rico who relocated to NYC, the "early modern" Art Deco capital of the world, I was overwhelmingly fascinated with art and modernist architecture.  I've recently moved West after being enamored with 1950's modernism. I currently reside in a 1962 plan 2B MCM home designed by architect William Krisel of Palmer & Krisel / Alexander fame. Since the move, I have fallen in love with everything MCM and shifted my traditional portrait art business to creating a "house portrait" canvas business. In the past 20 years I have worked on art projects for Levis Target Hasbro Marvel Heineken Coors and Columbia University with works published on several continents. I have attended the Art Students League in New York City and have a BFA in Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York CIty.
